Oregon City


Abundant with history, Oregon City is a delightful community located southeast of Portland just below the Willamette River Falls. Originally a fishing locale and trading post, the area quickly industrialized; large steamboats floated the powerful Willamette River transporting goods between the upper valley and Oregon City. Located in the historic downtown district, the 130-foot tall Oregon City Municipal Elevator is one of only four municipal elevators in the world. Originally designed to connect downtown with the upper level business and residential districts, the elevator is a tourist destination due to the spectacular views from the observation deck of the Willamette Falls and downtown.
